Wangari muta Maathai (Kenyan vice minister of environment and a Doctor of Biology)

She was born in 1940, Kenya who obtained a degree in Biological Sciences from Mount St. Scholastica College in Atchison, Kansas (1964), and a Master of Science degree from the University of Pittsburgh (1966), and pursued doctoral studies in Germany and the University of Nairobi, before obtaining a Ph.D. (1971) from the University of Nairobi, where she also taught veterinary anatomy. Wangari Muta Maathai was the first in East and Central Africa to earn a doctorate degrees (1977). The same year worried about poverty, in her motherland and environmental destruction , she began are forestation activity as Green Movement supported by poor women. As a result, in 2004, For the first time the Nobel peace prize was awarded as an African lady in the environment field.
Wangari Muta Maathai was appointed to UN peaceful ambassador in 2009 and achieved heavy responsibility as the environment and a Peace Messenger. She died on September 25, 2011.
